Words to Live By
Author Believed  Unknown
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, "WOW! What a Life!"

The best way to predict your future ?
Is to create it yourself !

Today I will be handling all
 of your problems.

Please remember that I do not  need your help.

If life happens to deliver a situation to you that
you cannot handle, do not attempt to
resolve it.

Kindly put it in the
“SFGTD Box” (Something
For God To Do
) box.  It will be addressed in
My time
, not yours. Once the matter is placed
into the box, do not hold on to it.  If you find
yourself stuck in traffic - don’t despair. There
are people in this world for which driving
 is an unheard of privilege.

Emotions and Sentiments®
Up for two reasons
Author Believed To Be Unknown
©

JOY and/or
Afflictions

Verily, I have been prohibited from emitting two foolish and wicked sounds,
One that is emitted when something favorable happens,
and the other that is expressed when calamity strikes.

"In order that you may not hear words that would fail to get you,
Nor rejoice because of that which has been given to you."

Verily, true patience is that which is displayed during the initial shock.  Therefore, when one contains his emotions upon both the joyful and the calamitous occasion, he or she is likely to achieve peace and tranquility, happiness and comfort, and the taste of victory over his or her own self.   Suppose we would be looking at us “Spokesperson” would described a person as being exultant and boastful, irritable, discontented when evil touches that person, and inadequate when good touches that person.  The exceptions, this informs us, are those who remain constant in prayer for they are on a middle path in times of both joy and sorrow. They are thankful during times of ease and are patient during times of hardship.

Unbridled emotions can greatly wear a person out,
causing pain and loss of sleep.
When such a person becomes angry,
persons flares up, threatens others, loses all self-control,
and surpasses the boundaries of justice and balance.

Meanwhile, if person becomes happy, would be in a state of rapture and wildness. In that intoxication of joy, would forget him/her self and surpasses the bounds of modesty. When this person renounces and relinquishes the company of others, they he criticize them, forgetting their virtues while stamping out their good qualities. On the other hand, if this person loves others, would spare no pains in according them all forms of veneration and honor, portraying them as the pinnacles of perfection.

Love the one who is beloved to you in due moderation, for perhaps the day will come when you will detest that other person.  And hate the one whom you detest in due moderation, for perhaps the day will arrive when you will come to love that person.”

So when a person curbs there emotions, when a person controls their own mind, and when to each matter would give according to the weight of its importance, at this time folks would have taken a step toward wisdom and true understanding.

SENIORENKREIS®

In Liebe Käthe F
und der Vorstand des Seniorenkreises

A BRIEF SUMMARY
Translation By: Astrid Campbell

How fast the months go by, with God‘s help and blessing with were able to get through the first half of the year very well. The Senior picnic, on June 16, was a success we were able to make a donation to St. Peter‘s Lutheran Church. On June 24th we had a bus trip in which 54 Seniors and guests participated.

We now have 2 months (July & August) of Summer vacation.

Our next meeting is on Sept. 8th at 11:00 AM as usual. All meetings are on the first & third Wednesday of the month. We keep the German custom and language alive for we should not forget it. We sing songs acompanied by Else Pfaehler on the piano. Everyone is genuinely welcome.

Our thoughts and prayers are with those who are ill or in a nursing home.

Happy Birthday to all those who have birthdays in July and August.

With Love

In loving memory
When I Must Leave You
 Author Helen Steiner Rice-

When I must leave you for a little while - Please do not grieve and shed wild tears And hug your sorrow to you through the years,

But start out bravely with a gallant smile; And for my sake and
in my name live on And do all things the same, feed not your loneliness on empty days, but fill each waking hour in useful ways,

Reach out your hand In comfort and in cheer and I in turn will comfort you and hold you near; And never, never be afraid to die,

For I am waiting for you in the sky!

Hot Weather Walking
If you can, go early in the
  morning or late at night--direct
sunlight can feel up to 15°F
  higher than it really is.

If it's really hot, wear a hat and sunscreen, and mist your shirt with a spray bottle of cool water. Most importantly, don't forget to drink 6 to 8 ounces of water for every 15 minutes of walking.

The truth is, moving your body isn't about any goal other than physically connecting with the fundamental pleasure of and gratitude for being alive. The rest is just gravy.

History of Sundays After Pentecost
©
Webmaster Files

The Feast of Pentecost was instituted, first, to oblige the Israelites to repair to the temple of the Lord, and there to acknowledge his dominion over their country, and their labors, by offering to him the first-fruits of all their harvests.  Secondly, to commemorate, and to render thanks to God for, the law given from the mount Sinai, on the fiftieth day after their coming out of Egypt.

Secondly, to commemorate, and to render thanks to God for, the law given from the mount Sinai, on the fiftieth day after their coming out of Egypt.

In Christian life Pentecost originally celebrated both the Ascension of Jesus Christ and the descent of the Holy Spirit.   In the 300's, Ascension of Jesus came to be a separate observance.  However, Pentecost remained a celebration of the gift of the Holy Spirit to the Church in fulfillment of the Promise of Jesus.

"And I will ask the Father,
and He shall give you another

Your Summer Health Concerns
www.health.ivillage.com

Summer may be the most fun-filled season, but that doesn't mean it's worry-free. We all know that mosquitoes can carry life-threatening diseases and sunbathing may lead to cancer -- but those are just two of the season's many health hazards. So grab your sunscreen and your bug spray and find out what our experts have to say about the other top summer health concerns!

Can your eyes get sunburned?

Although eyes do not get "sunburned" in the same way that skin does, excessive exposure to the sun's ultraviolet rays can lead to many eye problems, both short- and long-term.

What is Heat stroke/exhaustion ?

This occurs when the body's normal cooling mechanisms become overwhelmed by the combination of heat and dehydration. This allows for the body temperature to rise dramatically. Fevers of 105oF or higher may occur. The most common symptoms are the combination of a warm body with flushed skin and an impressive lack of perspiration. A child who is hot but with dry skin is a concerning one. Other symptoms include feeling faint, nausea, fast breathing, and abdominal pain. The nausea may overshadow the thirst mechanism, so it is not uncommon for children with heat stroke to not be terribly thirsty.

WORDS OF WISDOM
Paul Gutmann©

Since of our sinful nature, we are prone to hide away or (hoard) our material blessings, to squander our time and to misuse our talents.  These attitudes and activities do disservices to the cause of Christ.   In James 4:7 offers a way to get out of these sinful patterns:

As we read
 "Submit yourselves, then, to God.
Resist the devil and he will flee from you."

James 4:7

As God fills us with knowledge of Himself, as He teaches us self-control and brotherly kindness, and as He builds us up in faith, we can grow in effectiveness in the proclamation of the Gospel.

Bring your Talents and Gifts to St. Peter's and share your Faith

Never Too Old For Sunday School

Will be on Summer Break Until Rally Day Sunday
September 12, 2010

Every Sunday morning, the children of the parish join in the 9:30 AM Service through the Children's Sermon.

They are then excused with their teachers to their respective classrooms for their lesson based on the Sunday Lectionary used in worship.  Show your children your faith in God and bring them to Sunday School.

It is important that our children learn about their Christian faith, they will have fun in the process and make new friends.

Please be supportive of this children's ministry.

They remember back to happier times in their
lives, times of stability and security.   It is easier
for them to see God back there in their memories
than to struggle to see God in the chaos of the

You determine the frequency of your automatic gift—weekly, semi-monthly or monthly—the option is yours. Your offering is deposited into the church’s bank account on the same day it is withdrawn from your account—at NO cost to you or the church.

Benefits to you and to your
Congregation

“Simply Giving” is a reliable, safe way to move your stewardship plan into action. It allows you to share your offerings through planned giving and activates your generosity into ongoing stewardship. Because your offering is given consistently, you won’t need to play “catch-up” at yearend or worry about forgotten checkbooks or missed Sunday offerings.

But you’re not the only one that benefits. Your congregation benefits from steady, more predictable revenues throughout the year, more efficient bookkeeping and greater confidence in meeting its financial commitments.

Why does Thrivent Financial for
Lutheran offer Simply Giving?

Thrivent Financial offers Simply Giving to further its mission of serving Lutheran congregations and institutions.
